Derm Caps
My dog has dry skin and a lot of hair loss. Any ideas?
We have taken him to several vets. They have dicovered that he has a thyroid problem, so he now takes Soloxine 2x a day. We also switched his food to Canidae which was recommended to us, and he takes 2 extra strength Derm Caps. Nothing has helped and I know he is itching because I find him chewing and licking until the spot is raw. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??
My vet recommended that I add a couple of tbsps. of peanut oil to my dog’s food to help with dry skin and coat. It has really helped. Also, this is just a thought, I have used olive oil on my hair when it need conditioning. Maybe a bit of olive oil on the really dry spots will help soothe the itching. When raw spots heal they itch and the cycle continues… Hope your pooch gets better!

Alternative medicines for arthritis?
I can’t take the prescription drugs, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for alternate treatments. A friend mentioned glucosamine, and fish/seal oil capsules. Has anyone tried these? With what results?
Glucosamin and chondroitin sulphate are commonly prescribed to help relieve arthritis pain and rebuild cartilage. Problem is it takes months to start working and wont do a thing if the biomechanics of the body are off and not allowing cartilage to be rebuilt. I suggest you check out Pete Ogoscue’s books Health through motion and Pain Free. Fish oil (Omega 3 fatty acids) help decrease inflammation in the body thereby decreasing pain..they should be taken daily as a supplement along with a anti-inflammatory diet that is limited in red meats and simple sugars(white bread, cakes, etc…).

Syn Flex
question about switching my dog to a new joint supplement?
i have had my dog on Glyco-Flex III for a little over 2 months now and i have about a week worths left. i was not totally happy with how it worked so i bought a bottle of Syn-Flex to use after all the GF has been used up. my question is, is it ok to immediately switch him or should i wait a few days? his last GF dose will be on Friday so can i start him on the Syn-Flex Saturday or should i wait until Monday?
It’s fine to just change over.
I have used synflex for ages and found it very good.
It is virtually impossible to overdose on glucosamine
I do find changing every now and again seems to help them anyway as if the mix is slightly different or whatever.
I also used shark cartiledge to good effect as well.

No in the USA. If you don’t pay, most states will cremate or bury the remains. Then they will try to collect for the cost of that from the next of kin.
