Liquid Glucosamine

As the cold grips most of the world these days, your dog’s arthritis is maybe hitting hard from the cold hindering his/her movements. The cold makes those joints harder to move not as easy as it was to move around in fall time. Since Hydro-therapy would be the very best method for loosening up those stiff joints. If your dog is anything like mine, she hates baths! But if keeping your dog dry after wards, or the mess is too much, or maybe it’s just not be a easy task in general. Hydro-therapy may not be the right thing for your dog now.

Why not try an alternative method instead? With my personal experience as a patient of physio-therapy, my physio has always used heat packs to loosen up my tight muscles. So why not try it on my dog? I’ve researched it and found many Vets will use a similar method and they usually suggest applying heat to your dogs affected area rather than a cold pack will help especially for arthritis ridden dogs.

Electric blankets are great for keeping my dog warm during the winter but the electrical cords and the heat is not as focused. So what I am using are those Magic Bags instead, two minutes in the microwave to warm them up. I use two of them in a old pillow case to keep them on my dogs back and clean. Two Magic Bags on a medium sized dog practically covers the entire back region, from between the shoulder blades to the back end. (I like the Magic Bags, because they’re a natural method for retaining heat. Without the use of gel packs.)

With muscles being practically the same as human muscles (obviously differently shaped and length), but it makes sense that your dog would benefit from having these natural heat packs for about 10-15 minutes, and a mini massage after wards. A five minute massage is all that’s needed on the hips and legs helps promote mobility in your dog’s legs & joints. Any tight muscles would be then loosened up allowing your dog to move much more freely. But once we have your dogs muscles loosened what then? How do we keep them loose and moving freely in the future and keeping your dog’s exercise level to a normal standard.

In long term a plan I suggest you should look into using Liquid Glucosamine and Omega 3 & 6 oils to keep their joints and muscles loosened up from an internal stand point, the glucosamine converts into chondroitin which helps rebuilt and lubricate cartilages. The reason I suggest liquid glucosamine is the quickness it absorbs into your dog’s system. There are some products that also help with pain relief as well. And you can get omega 3 & 6 fatty acids from fish even canned salmon (just make sure its wild and packed in oil).

Let me point out this is NOT a quick fix, this will definitely take some time. This is a more natural method of controlling arthritis in your dog and promoting mobility. As always check with your veterinarian before starting any type of medication or health care regiment.

This is about helping dogs, and helping others with information and suggestions I’ve picked up over the years from reading and talking with Vets.
