I don’t know, check with a pharmacy or a DR. Be careful getting your tongue pierced it’s the most dangerous part of your body to have pierced because of the likelyhood of severe infection. Make sure they are using all sterile equipment.

What are the best products for a dog’s oral care routine?
I brush my dogs’ teeth 3-4 times per week, they get CET chews, and one’s had 2 dentals. They’ll chew some, but less in there older age. I’ve been looking at oral care products LEBA III and the PetzLife products. Does anyone have any experience with these or any other suggestions for keeping tartar and plaque at bay in older dogs?
It’s great that you are brushing your dog’s teeth regularly. Make sure that when you brush you do all the surfaces of all the teeth up to the gums and not just the incisors at the front. If you are brushing effectively with a good toothpaste (teatree is good because it freshens the breath too) then you shouldn’t have a tartar build up. However, if you do have tartar the best thing you can do is to gently scrape the teeth with a dental scraper available from most grooming suppliers.

yes, the bacteria can cling to the heart valves and damage them. This bacteria can even lead to heart attack and stroke. It can damage other parts of the body, too. Brush twice a day and floss once a day. Bacteria in the mouth is normal. The bacteria that lingers due to not brushing causes the problems. Look up heart disease and oral health on webmd or any other medical site.

Your dog needs to have the calculus removed by your vet. There is not a product that can get under the gums to get all of the debris. When you look for a vet to do the COHAT (dental cleaning and assessment), find one that has a dental x-ray unit. According to the AAHA, doing “dentals” without radiographs is malpractice.
