dog care after spay
what can i do to take care of my dog? she just has been spayed and doesn’t want to drink at all?
i brought my dog home 3 hours ago from her surgery..she is still very sleepy, which i think it’s normal…i tried to give her some water, but she moves her head away..i also tried to wet my finger and let her lick it, but nothing…what should i do to take care of her?

let her sleep…this is the worst surgery in the world for an animal…she is still groggy…and they actually say not to give them water or food for awhile anyways they are still under the medication…she will drink when she is ready..She is in serious pain right now…extra loves and a warm cozy place for her to lay is what she needs now…
do not force her to drink or eat, she may throw it up…and that will be worse for her…no jumping either…
after 12 hours she should get a little food or water in her system and if not by tomorrow you call the vet…I am sure they sent you home with instructions…

I know dogs don’t have human emotions. but has your dog even been spiteful?
My 3 yr old dog is 100% potty trained, but every time I go on vacation for more than 3 days…she will pee in the house. She is left home with the hubby and kids…but she is my baby. So it’s not she’s going to a new place or has new routine. Has your dog ever done anything like that?
You likely won’t believe this, but as a canine behaviorist, I can tell you that dogs don’t process ’spite’ or ‘get even’.
They DO however, respond to stress. The pottying indoors, is a stress reaction.
She just plain misses you! and her normal routine that she is comfortable with.
Dogs LOVE routine, and knowing what to expect and when.
